What do Values mean to you?

Recently I attended an interesting course and one of the topics covered was Values and how important they are in life.

We come across a different set of values in so many areas and they form a central part of who we are as people. Along with our own Personal Values, we also have our Family Values, Work Place Values, Friendship Values and so on.

Being able to tune in with a set of values is key to feeling happy and settled in either our professional and personal life. Whilst some values immediately spring to mind, going through a process to narrow down which are the three most important is an insightful thing to do.

Our temp desk is currently going through an intensive growth phase and it will be our values which ensure we maintain our place as the leading temp agency in London. When given the task to pick the top three values for the Temp Desk, it proved rather difficult to agree on which ones were the most ‘important’ to us

We narrowed it down to the following:

Adaptability: We are agile and can adapt quickly to clients’ requests and adapt our processes where necessary.

Honesty: We need our clients and temps to be honest with us. Without this, how can we possibly build relationships.

Collaboration: The relationship we have with our temps and clients is all about collaboration and ensuring we are looking after their needs and they are providing us with the information we need.

Entrepreneurship: We are all natural entrepreneurs on the temp desk who make the most of every opportunity.

Fun: We want our temps to enjoy their bookings – work hard, feel great satisfaction for doing a superb job and have fun along the way.

Integrity: Having our ‘Word’ actually mean something and delivering on what we say we are going to do is essential for any business success.

Loyalty: Our temps are incredibly loyal to Attic as are our clients and do their best at every opportunity.

Respect: Our relationships are built on mutual respect. It is very much a two way process.

Support: If we understand our clients’ business, we are best placed to react when they need us.

Trust: Being able to trust our candidates implicitly with our clients and feeling confident that they will be shining examples is integral too.

I found it very difficult to put these in order as these are certainly my top ten for our growing temp desk. If I was forced to put them in order it would have to be Integrity, Honesty and Trust and with the other seven following closely behind.

I have a huge amount of confidence in the team at Attic – they have taken a lot of time and trouble to understand the culture and nuances of our business and it shows. I will keep asking them to support us because I know they will deliver a great result – quickly and with style.
